					<p>Our business is miniature electronics. We continue on this trend by introducing chip scale packaging to our IO-Link line of products, starting with the HMT7748 IO-Link Dual PHY. This impressive 2.5mm x 2.5mm package sets a precedent for robust miniature electronics.</p>
<p>The HMT7748 IO-Link Dual PHY includes an IO-Link UART and line-driver with clock recovery, a second line-driver channel, DC-DC and linear converters and integrated surge protection and zero current reverse polarisation protection. The functions relieve the load on the uC and reduce the bill of materials, and together with chip-scale packaging, give maximum function in minimum space.</p>

					<p>HMT microelectronic AG has been working with STMicroelectronics for 25 years. Using state of the art ST technologies, HMT has designed more than 50 ASICs with STMicroelectronics, mainly for sensors and motor drives with manufacturing volumes in excess of 10 Mio. HMT is developing more than 5 further ASICs with ST in 2016 alone, and this trend is expected to continue.</p>
<p>“The ST BCD (Bipolar CMOS DMOS) family provides an ideal base for high performance mixed signal ASICs where medium voltage (&lt;190V) high power elements are efficiently integrated with precision analog sensor circuits and dense logic. The range of process options provides flexibility, tailoring the technology capability to the needs of individual customer products,” said HMT CEO Andreas Reber, explaining the reason for their technology choice.</p>
<p>One BCD family option of particular and growing interest to Industrial Customers is SOI (Silicon on Insulator). HMT microelectronic AG has special know-how&nbsp;exploiting the advantages of SOI, further improving the integration density of medium voltage circuits and providing high performance and well isolated functions on a single silicon (SoC).</p>

					<p>In 2018 HMT celebrates 40 years of operations in the ASIC industry.</p>
<p>HMT was founded by Jack Heuer in 1978 as a spin-off from swiss watch company, Heuer-Leonidas, today Heuer-TAG. The focus was ASIC design.</p>
<p>In 1988 the miniature electronic module &amp; system design activity has been added to complete the high density packaging of ASIC, COB and former high density technologies.</p>
<p>In 1994 the HiDensity Group was founded combining HMT with swiss partners, Hybrid SA, a technology provider and production plant for high density packaging and General Hybrid SA, a technology provider for low cost modules, also providing a sales office for France.</p>
